A little taste of September
Late-summer berries meet the first flavours of autumn. Here are some of the fruit and vegetables to look out for, with a few ideas to help you enjoy what you have.
🌿 What’s growing this month?

- Blackberries and damsons bring a taste of late summer.
- Broccoli, carrots, celery and French beans are among the vegetables harvested in September.
- Watercress is still in its British growing season.
- Butternut squash starts to join the autumn harvest as the fruit ripens.
A little inspiration for eating with the seasons. These foods are usually in season in the UK this month, although timing can vary with the weather and where they’re grown.
You might spot some at the Community Fridge, too. What’s available changes with the donations we receive.
