Donate food
Help restock the community fridge and its larder, and pass on good food that might otherwise go to waste.
Food donations to St Agnes
Please contact us to arrange a drop-off at St Agnes Cottage, behind St Agnes Church. These guidelines will help you choose what to bring.
What we can accept
- Cupboard food: in-date, unopened tins, packets and jars; cereal, pasta, rice, tea, coffee, crisps and noodles.
- Fruit, vegetables, salads and herbs: fresh and in good condition, with no mould.
- Dairy: unopened, pasteurised milk, yoghurt and cheese.
- Bakery: fresh bread, cakes and pastries, packaged or sealed.
- Sauces and drinks: sealed sauces, jams and condiments; unopened fruit juices and soft drinks.
- Eggs: Lion-stamped, with clean shells and a best-before date.
What we cannot accept
- Cooked food from home or from unregistered kitchens.
- Opened, partly used or unsealed food packages.
- Food past its use-by date, or food that is mouldy, spoiled or unsafe.
- Unpasteurised milk, or raw or unsealed dairy products.
- Raw meat or fish donated by members of the public.
- Alcohol, or food missing required ingredient and allergen labels. Repackaged food must be labelled.
Business donations of meat and fish: frozen meat or fish must come from registered businesses, be sealed, in date and kept frozen. Raw meat and fish are accepted only through approved supermarket collections. Please contact us first to arrange any business donation.
Phone-box donations: packets and tins only. You can leave these in our red BT charity donation phone box on Clarence Crescent. Please do not leave jars, fresh fruit or vegetables in the phone box. For other food donations, contact us to arrange a suitable drop-off at the community fridge.
